Wycliffe Gordon at Up Over Jazz Club

Venture over to Up Over Jazz Cafe tonight to catch Gordon and his lineup. Gordon received the Jazz Journalists Association 2001 Award for Trombonist of the Year and Jazz Journalist Association 2000 Critic's Choice Award for Best Trombone. He has a thriving solo career and Gordon is best known for his association with the Wynton Marsalis Septet and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.

Django Reinhardt Tribute at Birdland Tonight
Tonight through the 23rd, Birdland and the folks at Wild Turkey Bourbon host a festival dedicated to the great French-Gypsy guitar legend Djengo Reinhardt. Reinhardt's style and taste opened many roads for guitarists within the jazz and classical worlds. This is an incredible event and one that is hard to find elsewhere. If you love the music of Reinhardt or are nostalgic for Stephan Grappelli do go and drink lots of red wine.

Charles Lloyd at Joe's Pub this Tuesday
Pioneering saxophonist and composer Charles Lloyd will be at Joe's Pub this Tuesday with his quartet. Lloyd is considered the first to meld and popularize jazz with traditional music from around the word. He also contributed to the post-bop and pyschedelic avant-garde era of music in the '60s.
