Vocalist Niranjana Shankar to be featured in the finale of inaugural jazz series at historical Old Stone House in Park Slope on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 8:00pm.
The performance, curated by Slope Music, also features Gary Levy on Alto Sax, and Veteran NY scene musicians, Charles Sibirsky on piano and Ray Parker on bass.
âThe Old Stone House of Brooklyn is the perfect intimate setting for a jazz series,â stated Charles Sibirsky, pianist and founder of Slope Music.
They will be playing jazz standards from the American Popular Songbook of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s, as well as the music of Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, Lennie Tristano.
The performance will feature two sets â Niranjana Shankar, vocals, at 8 pm, Gary Levy, alto sax, at 9:15 pm. and Ray Parker, bass and Charles Sibirsky, piano will play both sets.
Admission is $12.
The Old Stone House is located at JJ Byrne Park between Third and Fourth Streets, just off Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn (next to Middle School 51).
